PMI GHANA INTERACTS WITH GRADUATE STUDENTS OF IDL KNUST CAMPUS AT MC- CARTHY HILL, ACCRA

PMI Students

The students turned up in their numbers to be part of this maiden edition of PMI Ghana's engagement with them as the whole auditorium was packed. The atmosphere was full of expectation. This was an outreach and membership collaboration as VP for Outreach, Mr Frank Attoh- Owoo as well as VP for Membership, Mrs Jewell Bon- Irema accompanied the President of PMI Ghana, Mr Frank Owusu-Asamoah to deliver the benefits of PMI to the students.

The students who were all from the Construction Technology and Management Department and pursuing Master of Science in Project Management were well versed in the tenets of Project Management and were ready to absorb knowledge being shared by the President.

In delivering his presentation on the topic “The Indispensability of Project Management Skills”, Frank Owusu- Asamoah, PMI Ghana President explained the benefits of becoming a member of PMI. He simplified the steps it takes to become a member as well as how important it was to maintain one’s membership. He emphasized the importance of having a certification (writing the exam) but was quick to point out that membership and having a certification were not mutually exclusive. He demystified the renewal of membership by simplifying how easy it was to accumulate Professional Development Units and the learning opportunities that the Ghana Chapter provided to its members to shore up PDU’s.

The students were taken through the various certifications offered by PMI and given an insight on how a PMI membership could enhance their professional studies. Regarding this, data was used to support this assertion, as the fact that the global economy was in need of some 25 million new project professionals by 2030 meant that the talent gap could be bridged by having some 2.3 million persons with Project Management certifications and change makers join each year.

This write up would not be complete without mentioning Dr (Mrs) Ivy Abu, a member of PMI Ghana Chapter and Surveyor Patrick Mireku (Esquire) who facilitated to make this interaction with the graduate students of IDL KNUST, McCarthy Hills possible.

Another commendation needs to be made of both the Outreach and Membership wings of PMI Ghana headed by Frank Attoh- Owoo and Jewell Bon- Irema respectively.

The Department of Construction Technology and Management as well as graduate students needs to be lauded for the warm reception of the team. The enthusiasm and expectation of the students was palpable and truly inspiring.WhatsApp-Image-2024-04-20-at-06.13.24.jpeg

Last but definitely not the least the President of PMI Ghana, Frank Owusu-Asamoah deserves a high five and a big pat on the back for taking PMI to the doorstep of these future professionals. These engagements are truly heartwarming and proof that the world of Project Professionals can only get better and it’s the preferred choice by all standards.
