PM CONNECT – PMI GHANA ENGAGES PMI GHANA - GIMPA STUDENTS CLUB MEMBERS ON TRANSITIONING FROM THE LECTURE HALLS TO INDUSTRY

The PMI Ghana GIMPA Student Club successfully hosted its much-anticipated maiden edition of PM Connect event on 13th November 2025, under the theme “Transitioning from the Lecture Hall to Industry.” Held at LOT 1 201 on the GIMPA Campus in Accra, the event brought together students, young professionals, and industry experts for an insightful and practical evening of learning. The programme, organized in partnership with PMI Ghana, aimed to equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and real-world strategies needed to transition smoothly from academia into professional project management practice.

 

Running from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, the programme unfolded with a well-coordinated flow:

Two high-profile speakers and PMI Ghana Membership Loyalty Awardees, delivered compelling presentations that resonated deeply with participants.

 

1. Ing. Frederick Kwabena Bediako


General Manager, Special Projects — Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)
His presentation brought the PMI Ghana experience to life, delivering an inspiring message on the importance of continuous learning, networking, and professional discipline. He encouraged students to embrace project management not just as a profession, but as a developmental journey.

 

2. Nana Akosua Boahemaa


Manager, Regulatory AdministrationNational Communications Authority (NCA)
She highlighted the immense benefits of engaging with PMI Ghana, emphasizing how students can leverage the Institute’s resources to support their growth. Her remarks focused on the realities of transitioning from the classroom into the world of work, offering relatable guidance grounded in real-life experience.

 

The evening was filled with standout moments that sparked applause and engagement:

The teamwork behind organizing the event, from planning to execution, was evident and commendable.
Speakers encouraged students to join the PMI Ghana community as a pathway to mentorship, knowledge, and professional growth.
A memorable insight shared was: “Becoming a project manager is a journey, and PMI Ghana can take you through it.”
The Q&A session brought out practical concerns and honest advice that students found incredibly useful.

 

The President of PMI, Frank Owusu-Asamoah graced the occasion with his presence and praised the energy and clarity of the presentations, demonstrating strong engagement throughout the discussions.

 

He also said the success of this maiden edition of PM Connect signals a growing interest in project management among Ghanaian students and sets the stage for even greater participation in upcoming PMI Ghana students initiatives.

 

The event recorded an impressive 108 attendees, made up of both students and professionalsfrom various sectors. The diverse audience enriched the discussions and contributed to a vibrant learning environment.
