Lost in Transit, But Not in Learning: My first NPMC & PMEA ‘25 Adventure

Chronicles of NPMC

I embarked on a road trip to Aqua-Safari in Ada for the National Project Management Professional Conference, Ghana, ‘my first’ bringing my trusty navigator (14-year-old son) along for the ride. With Google Maps in hand (or rather, his phone), we set off bright and early. As we cruised down the highway, nostalgia kicked in, reminiscing about past family trips along the same road to Keta.

But, let's just say my son's navigation skills didn't quite live up to his gaming prowess – he dozed off, and I got lost in thought (and the wrong direction)! Before I knew it, we'd added an extra 55km to our journey. My husband's call to check in was priceless: "You're still not there?!"

Despite the detour, we arrived just in time for the CSR activity, fashionably late at 3:05 PM (11:30 AM was the plan, but hey, at least we made it!). The conference was a blast, and I'm grateful for the experience and new connections.

My son had an epic time, too, volunteering alongside other Gen Z's and enjoying the road trip shenanigans. Who knows, maybe next time we'll arrive on time (just kidding, it's all about the journey, right?)! This adventure taught me to stay focused on the road and appreciate the scenic route – both literally and professionally."
