A humbling experience

Building Capacity
Our Way of Work
Chronicles of NPMC

The NPMC 2025 event was an experience I'll always treasure. My adventure began at 12 noon from Tema, arriving at Aqua Safari in Ada around 2 pm. After a seamless registration, we headed to the riverbank, where we boarded a canoe, despite two lifeboats being available. Initially, I felt apprehensive, but my sense of adventure took over, and I eagerly joined Hassana, Judith, Freda, and the videographer.

WhatsApp-Image-2025-09-02-at-19.21.08.jpegWe secured our life jackets and whispered prayers for safety. I enjoyed the breathtaking scenery while chatting, and our fears melted away.

Upon arrival, we met women working on oysters for Khebab preparation, with oyster shells neatly arranged by size. I learned that these shells were used for in building and construction works as well as landscaping.

The rest of the team arrived on the island via multiple trips on the life boats.

The community and school extended a warm welcome. Then came the highlight of our visit, donating essential items and witnessing the impact of our contribution, including the school's newly installed lights, a milestone moment in its history.

This experience was truly humbling, and I'm already eagerly anticipating the next social impact activity. Even on the return journey, I chose to sit in the  canoe, despite having lifeboats available. It was an adventure I'd happily repeat.
